Heineken Red Star FC: Open the Footballing World - Season 5 Wrap-Up - LIGUE 1

Back from a long hiatus, FM Peels and his squad wrapped up their first season in Ligue 1. Would we stay up, or would we tumble back to the depths of Ligue 2?

TRANSFERS IN/OUT

IN

4 new signings joined our ranks in January. Fikkert and Moloi are my bets to make the most impact in this save. Both Traore and Amrani are prospects, but Moloi and Fikkert will insert directly into the first team. Soloi at LCB and Fikkert as our Sweeper Keeper.

OUT

Our loan exit. Maisonnial had been kicking up dust within the locker room as he felt a promise had been broken to him. I opted to keep the atmosphere positive by losing a good player than to lose the entire locker room. Luckily, Fikkert had already been shortlisted and was available, and will slot in immediately

FIXTURES/RESULTS

A bit of a mixed bag following the Christmas holiday. Our best run of form, a 4 game winning streak, saw us beat highly in-form AS Monaco 2-0 away. We bounced out of the French Cup fairly early, which will be something I look to remedy in the near future. Making progress in the cups will allow our prospects to further develop in those big games.

So, you've seen the results following Christmas, but where have we landed in the table?

A very respectable 12th place in our first season in Ligue 1! Seeing the likes of AS Monaco and PSG battle it out for the title was little of a surprise, and even moreso is a warning sign of the uphill battle that we are surely facing with this save. Ultimately, staying in Ligue 1 will allow us more money, opportunity to sign players, and another chance to enter Europe. That is the next big goal; qualify for a European competition.

SEASON BONUS

Never in my mind, even after seeing the goal happen, did I think Houri would win this award. What a gem of a player he has been for us. Here's to hoping we can hold onto him. Future HRSFC legend in the making.
